In the 1980’s Bill Cosby was becoming popular and he release his commodity routine Bill Cosby: A Conversation with Himself. My Parents, Siblings and myself became instant fans. We were all at a sage in our lives where we could appreciate his humor and when he came to the Twin Cities, the Metropolitan Sports Center we went to see him in person. For the next couple of decades we would recall particular segments of his routine and would quote him quite often. There are segments of Bill’s routine that have been engrained into my memory.

When I was weighing the puppies earlier this week, I watched with curiosity and amazement when Roman struggled up onto all four legs and then into a semi -squat to eliminate on the scale as I weighed him. Amazed by the fact he was on all four legs, could actually squat, was able to eliminating without stimulation and was starting to reach a stage where he resemble a dog. I smiled, praised him and called my friend to update her on the milestone.

Then my mind recalled this segment of Bill Cosby’s routine:

Memorable quotes from Bill Cosby: Himself (1983)
Taken from: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0083652/quotes

Bill Cosby: God has a sense a humor and God said, "Let him have a girl." Plop. Came out. And I had my child there, first born at home, and it does something to you when you're a father. You're home, you know, really home. And the baby was dirty, she'd made a little poo-poo. My wife and I were so happy when the child made the poo-poo. We asked the child... [in silly voice]

Bill Cosby: "Are you the one who made the poo-poo? C'mon, you made the poo-poo. You can poopy... ” [talks in baby talk]

Bill Cosby: And the baby said... [does a happy motion]

Bill Cosby: I said, "That's right, you want to make the poo-poo, you poo-poo when you want to poo-poo." [In normal voice]

Bill Cosby: And my wife and I were so happy, we showed it to each other. [silly voice]

Bill Cosby: Did you see the poo-poo? Oh, that's a pretty poo-poo! [normal voice]

Bill Cosby: Two months later, God put odor in the poo-poo, and it became a mess

One Week Old

I’m still having problems with the internet connection. For the last two nights I’ve tried to down load video to put on the blog but have encounter problems both times. So for now we will have to stick with pictures.

The Naming of the puppies: the first born male is named after the sire of the litter and one of the females is named after Faith. To carry on the family tradition, see Tiga’s blog, the smallest dog is named Peanut. The rest of the litter has a theme: fireworks. This theme was chosen to complement the Sire’s name.

I spent most of the evening trying to take individual portraits of the puppies, but with just one set of hands to hold the puppies and take the picture it just wasn’t possible. Here is a group picture:

In order to make it easier for you to identify, I’ve made “necklaces” for the females and “ties” for the males. The females have pink beads and the males have blue beads. (Please note: for safety reasons, the puppies will wear the necklaces and ties ONLY while being videotaped or having their pictures take and under constant supervision.)

Name Marking Necklace/Tie Weight/ 1 week
Sparkler Pink Right Shoulder Pink with the letter”S” 606 g/1.34 lbs
Cherry (Bomb) Pink Left Shoulder Pink with the letter “C” 550 g/1.21 lbs
Little Bang Blue Right Shoulder Blue with the letter “B” 556 g/1.23 lbs
Peanut Pink Left Hip Pink with the letter “P” 386 g/.85 lb
(Bottle) Rocket Blue Left Shoulder Blue with the letters “RKT” 584 g/1.29 lbs
Radiance Pink Right Shoulder Pink with the letter “R” 524 g/1.16 lbs
Diamond (Daze) Pink Tail Pink with the letter “D” 624 g/1.38 lbs
Roman (Candle) Blue Right Shoulder Blue with the letter “R” 726 g/1.60 lbs
Dee Dee Pink Double Dot Pink with the letters “DZ” (D2) 652 g/1.44 lbs

Dee Dee is the name Faith had when she was a puppy living with Tiga. Radiance and Diamond Daze are named after a group/kit /collage of fireworks. I’ve started calling Little Bang “Little B” because he is the smallest of the males.
